Help Us Finish 2008 Strong

December 31, 2008

There is no doubt 2008 was a rough year for many of us. The Mission saw our donations decrease even as the needs of our clients increased dramatically. In our emergency food box program alone, the Mission went from serving around a hundred families a week to over a hundred families a day. What has continued to amaze me are those who give even when they themselves are feeling the pinch of the economic times the country is going through.

All these gifts are appreciated now more than ever and are being used to help people who never thought they would need it, like Eric Donovan. Eric is a local Dad, who went from owning his own business to becoming a guest of the Mission. According to azcentral.com,

Eric’s work was setting up computer networks for businesses and reprogramming software to run more efficiently. But as his clients faced growing uncertainty, the first area to take cuts was maintenance services. Business started dropping in July. Soon, what had been 10 customers a month dwindled to maybe one. On top of the financial strain, Eric and his wife separated. With no family in Arizona and no money in the bank, Eric showed up at the Phoenix Rescue Mission shelter about a month ago.

You can help us finish strong for 2008 knowing that your gifts will go toward feeding, clothing, providing shelter and most of all bringing hope to those in need. In addition, all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law and donations to Phoenix Rescue Mission are eligible for the AZ State Tax Credit of up to $400 per year.

Thank you and may God bless you in the coming year.
