Help Us Tackle Hunger on Super Bowl Sunday

January 22, 2009

For two weeks leading up to the NFL’s biggest game – the Super Bowl – Arizonans, especially young people, will be collecting money and food to fight hunger for the Souper Bowl of Caring. The Phoenix Rescue Mission is proud to host this annual food weigh in challenge and is giving you the chance to win this Cardinal’s football autographed by Kurt Warner!

Nearly 82,000 Arizonans are receiving emergency food services each week – that’s more people than will fill the stands at Super Bowl XLIII. The food collected at Souper Bowl of Caring will create food boxes to help the hungry.

To get involved, visit to register or just show up at our Mission patio with your donations on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1st from 11:00am to 2:00pm and we’ll take care of the rest. You can enjoy a barbeque lunch with us and pick your favorite team playing in the Super Bowl by placing your donations on the side of the Cardinals or the Steelers. The side with the most cans and monetary donations will be crowned official PRM Souper Bowl Champion and best of all every dollar you collect goes right to the Phoenix Rescue Mission to feed men, women and children.

For more information on this event call Gail at 602 346 3338.

Hey, Debra at Phoenix Rescue Mission! I just noticed you became a follower of my blog, called Into the Wilderness. First, thanks for reading it. Second, your blog tugs at my heartstrings a little bit. I “got my start” working with homeless men and women in Phoenix at an organization called Andre House. Are you familiar with it? When I lived in Phoenix I had a chance to visit Phoenix Rescue Mission and can still picture it.
