Digging the Foundation for Changed Lives

February 18, 2009

It’s noisy at the corner of Polk Street and 15th Avenue in Phoenix as Knochel Brothers Contractors dig the foundations for what will be the Changing Lives Center for Women and Children. But it’s music to the ears of all those waiting for this day to arrive. According to PRM Director, Jerry Sandvig,

“Six years after the original vision and input from thousands of donors, volunteers, board members and staff the day has arrived. We have officially started the construction program for the Changing Lives Center.”

This center is critical as almost half of the more than 14,000 people living on the streets in our community are women, children and families. Many of these women suffer from drug addictions or are fleeing abusive situations. They are in desperate need of the education, counseling, medical care, nursery, preschool and after school programs the center will provide. Our goal is to allow mothers and children to rebuild their lives as a family on their own firm foundation.
